Traditional spindle viscometers are great – if you want basic functionality and a simple result that has a wide margin of error. If you like wasting lots of sample volume – they are great for this too, and if you don’t want to test to a certain temperature, or range of temperatures – even better. You can’t test thick substances very easily either. So – if that’s what you’re looking for – the spindle viscometer is great.
But there is another way – a better way. Cone and plate viscometers are far superior to their spindle cousins, and the NuLine viscometer is the best of them all. With a NuLine viscometer you are getting all the features of a spindle viscometer, plus a host of features more commonly seen in a rheometer, for the same or less money.
NuLine viscometers only require small sample sizes, eliminating waste, and have highly accurate, controllable temperature plates, with ranges from 5°C – 250°C, accurate to within one tenth of a degree Celsius. What’s more – they have a speed range of 5 to 900 RPM, controllable to within 0.02 RPM and a measurement range of 0.1 to 15016 Poise and Shear rates of 14.5 to 13500 Sec-1.
The cone are also made of durable, long lasting Tungsten Carbide.

Further more – our viscometers can handle all types of liquids and viscous material – from ethanol to bitumen, and everything in between.
We also have free software that can produce a viscosity graph across a range of speed and/or temperatures in a single test run.
The NuLine viscometer has unrivaled accuracy, build quality and can be utilised across a vast range of sample types – and it costs the same or less than other, lesser brands. We’re also British-made with a fantastic legacy and reputation. Why would you ever want a spindle viscometer again?
